Proposal

The applicant is proposing to construct a new eight-storey, 113 unit residential building at the southwest corner of College Street and Palmerston Avenue, with at-grade commercial uses fronting on College Street. The building would be L-shaped. The existing four-storey building is proposed to be demolished. [...]

The existing four-storey commercial building on the site was constructed around or prior to 1920. This building once contained the College Street Campus for George Brown College. The site has been the subject of previous Site Plan Applications to allow for modifications to the former George Brown building. In 1989 the Committee of Adjustment granted variances to permit the conversion of the structure from a retail store and school building to a building containing retail stores and restaurant and office uses.
